Rites of Passage

"Rites of Passage" tells the sacred story of girls becoming knowledgeable young women and boys evolving into responsible young men through powerful First Nation colors and symbols as depicted by Monte Yellow Bird, Sr. on this Painted Ponies Pinto. This horse, or Sacred Dog, carries each of the symbols of hopes and dreams as we travel through life. Green represents growth on this journey of color. Blue symbolizes holiness. Orange marks the beginning and ending of these sacred transitions. The four butterflies represent the Creator and the four stages of life for women. The warrior's footsteps are symbolized by horse tracks as young men learn about their responsibilities. Past, present and future generations are represented by the Tree of Life.
